The exhibition FAB Dimensional is a showcase for animated art outside the cinema, and beyond the clearly limited and familiar framework of linear films. The medium of animated film per se offers many interfaces to other artistic media such as sculpture, game or installation in its production process and approach.

FAB Dimensional seeks to showcase different approaches to bring animation into the physical space, to initiate interaction with the audience and to invite everyone to marvel at the possibilities animation opens up. The exhibited artworks shall be of such kind, that they cannot be shown in a classical cinema setup.

2017, our very first festival evening was crowned by the premiere of the live-animated audiovisual concert “A new Beginning”. In 2018, a screening with 360° animations in the planetarium dome was part of the competition program. In 2020 the FAB Dimensional exhibition was developed to showcase immersive animation experiences and invites visitors to take a closer look or even become part of the animation experience. 

The fifth edition of the FAB Dimensional exhibition is scheduled to open in 2025.
