Stop-Motion in the Wild

I choose stop-motion for the tangible presence of physical objects in front of the camera. I embrace the uncertainty of these objects, intentionally creating "controlled failures." While this technique reveals the narrative world as a fabrication, it simultaneously asserts my presence as the creator, adding artistic depth. My "location stop-motion"—shooting in real landscapes, a practice I began during the pandemic—is the ultimate expression of this philosophy. Using this idea of "revealing the lie" as a starting point, I will discuss the art of outdoor animation.
