Student Workshop: Animation for the Ears

The Festival of Animation Berlin, in cooperation with the Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen, is offering a free workshop on audio description specifically for students.

The workshop offers the opportunity to discover the world of audio films and to make a contribution to cultural participation: Together we will create the audio description for the animated short film “Jeijay” (D 2021, D: Petra Stipetić & Maren Wiese). After an introduction with consideration for the special features of animation we will write the script for the short film. The accessible version is later produced digitally.

The workshop will take place on September 26, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the silent green Kulturquartier and will be led by Fabian Fornalski, educator and audio description author.
It is aimed especially at upper secondary school students in advanced-level art or German courses. Participation is free of charge, but limited to 15 students and one accompanying teacher.

Applications are open until September 6, 2025. Selected participants will be notified during the first week of school after the summer break.
